Architecture and urban planning both create spaces for the society comfort. The main difference between them is the scale they work with. Architects should care about the smaller places like buildings, meaning those where there are few people involved. On the other hand, urban planners should think of making spaces for plenty of people, they should design areas where a lot of buildings could take place. Nevertheless, both careers should work together and balance the weaknesses of each other. Architects most take into account the context where the building is placed and urban planners must be careful with the aesthetic look of their designs.
A particular case occurs in Caracas. In my opinion, architects and urban planners do not get along and neither of them are making a good job. The people can feel it. If the inhabitants of the city do not feel comfortable with the places where they develop, is because the designers are failing. In terms of architecture, most of the buildings are working just like shelter and do not diversify the activities, even some of them lack of beautiful appearance. Referring to urban planning, the city is a chaos and there are not enough public spaces.
For this reason, I think Caracas and many other cities must have good designers, one hundred percent committed to team work and recognize that both, architects and urban planners, need from each other in order to create successful spaces.
